Character Name: Marie “Crushing Weapon” Mjolnir

Age: 25
Background: Starting at a young age, Marie attended the Shinigami Weapon Meister Vocational School, also known as “Shibusen”. She is part of a race of people that transform into weapons(in her case, her weapon form is what seems to be a cross between a hammer and a tonfa), and it is at Shibusen where others like her, along with the people who could bring out the power of these weapons, were taught.

The goal of every meister at Shibusen is to make their weapon a “death scythe”. Despite the name, a Death Scythe doesn’t necessarily have to be a scythe(though one of the current ones does take that form). Instead, it is merely a title given to a weapon who has eaten ninety-nine potential kishin souls, and the soul of a witch. They gain an extreme amount of power, and can be wielded by Shinigami-sama himself.

Marie just happens to hold this title, and as of now, is one of only two known female Death Scythes.

Upon her graduation from Shibusen, she was to be sent to a post in another part of the world to keep an eye out for potential threats. This upset her greatly, as she thought once she became a Death Scythe, she would be able to settle down and get married. This led her to choose the Oceania area as her station, since Australia was a very calm, quiet place compared to other parts of the world, and she’d be able to take it easy there. Here she stayed for several years, enjoying the free time she had thanks to the minimal work it took to look after this section of the world, and lamenting that she still couldn’t get married.

Then came the revival of the original Kishin. Shinigami-sama called his Death Scythes to Death City. Marie was very against the idea, especially since Shinigami-sama wanted her to leave her peaceful, quiet post for the most active: Shibusen. She was to take up a teaching position at Shibusen, and keep an eye on Professor Stein, who was slowly slipping into the grip of insanity that was released when the Kishin revived. This is because her soul wavelength has a calming effect on most people, and should be able to suppress the insanity of the Kishin’s wavelength.

After a brief struggle for an incredibly powerful magical item, called “BREW”, Stein fell to his insanity. This was caused by an attempt to use soul resonance with Marie, who had a snake implanted in her courtesy of Medusa(though the witch was not the one who slipped it to her), designed to cause just that reaction should her and Stein attempt to fight together. During an investigation into a possible mole at Shibusen, the investigator(who happened to be an ex-boyfriend of Marie) was murdered, and Stein was framed for the crime.

Despite the apparently obvious evidence, Shinigami-sama and several others believed Stein to be innocent. They let him escape in the dead of night, and surprisingly, Marie went with him. She wanted to believe that Stein was not a lost cause, and went along to help him regain his sanity.

Personality: Marie may seem like a bit of an airhead. And… this is true, depending on the situation.

She seems to have an obsession with getting married; it was her goal as soon as she became a Death Scythe, but she was unable to. It was hinted that she had perhaps asked a man(it is unknown if this man was her meister, or some other person) to marry her, and he proceeded to dump her. This lead to somewhat of an obsession with Marie, to the point where she said she wanted to marry… a toilet bowl. She called it her “ideal partner”, because it “accepts everything she gives”.

… Thankfully, this endeavor was stopped by Marie’s friend Azusa, and Shibusen was minus one toilet.

Marie also seems to overreact a bit. As mentioned above, after finding out the toilet would “leak behind her back”, she called it an “unfaithful bastard!” and promptly smashed it. She also punched her friend hard enough to cause her nose to bleed, just because said friend seemingly “didn’t understand what love is”.

Despite these odd quirks, Marie is a very kind woman. She genuinely cares for all of her students, and wants to do her best to protect them and make sure they stay safe. Because of the nature of the school, this might be hard to accomplish, but that doesn’t mean Marie wouldn’t do her best to try.

Marie’s soul wavelength, like several other characters, has a sort of special effect on the people around her. This is merely called a “healing wavelength”. It has the ability to calm people, and drive back the insanity caused by the Kishin’s wavelength, which is why she was assigned to be Stein’s partner after the demon god revived.

Also, she’s terrible with directions. Don’t let her take the lead while you’re looking for something, or you’ll wind up horribly lost.
